Abelom Town

Pirate Port and Former Colony of the Northern Kingdom, Abelom Town is the base and stronghold of a loose confederacy run by privateers-turned-pirates in in the Spine Islands. While not a republic in a formal sense, it is governed by an informal pirate code enforced by Sherry Oaktayne, a pirate, madam, and elected mayor of the town. Her lover, Captain Arvale Black, a gentile pirate known for his brilliant mind and ruthless approach to discipline provides any force Oaktayne might need to control the pirates. 

Abelom Town was at one time a colony of the Northern Kingdom producing fruit, some silver and nickel from the hills, and other goods.  Because of the hospitable climate  and year round growing season, Marsayle Island became an important trade destination for southern provinces. The buildings are in built in a stucco white colonial stone.  The small merchants area is made mostly of well made wooden buildings and some stalls. Evening and afternoon rains make the town persistently muddy and damp, but afternoon sun can be hot and dry. Rainbows are a common sight looming to the south in front of the low mountains. The island is dangerous and is still inhabited by natives not too fond of the colonists, but there is an uneasy peace as long as the pirates stay in the fields and farms near town. 

The Old Northern Kingdom Fort, built before the cataclysm and rumored to hold secrets, has dwarven built walls and trebuchet is run by Capt. Buttervin a retired admiral who left the kingdom in disgrace. The mercurial captain lives in the fort with 40 sailors.  Captain Buttervin protects the harbor from incursions from the Grey Ax or Northern Kingdom fleets. 

General Code of Conduct

Ships rules as aboard, and the captain of a crew remains responsible for the behavior of said crew on land.

Town residents shall not be molested by any sailor or shall face punishment fit by mayor alone.

No man or woman shall meddle with another except by his or her consent. Violators shall be marooned with a bottle of water and one knife after the loss of a limb of the mayor's choice.

Theft is strictly forbidden and hanging is the result. 

Any person not under a captain and not employed by a town resident has 72 hours to conduct business and leave except by written consent of the mayor.
